Orphaned and Destitute Children

Channels of Love runs a home for destitute and orphaned boys and girls at Mundgod, North Kanara district, Karnataka that presently houses 50 children.  It is surrounded by greenery and open spaces.

Many of the children have been abandoned by both or one parent. Some come from alcoholic and abusive backgrounds where they have suffered ill-treatment and lack of proper food. When the children come to the home they are often malnourished, underweight, and sick.  Many have never heard a kind and loving word in their lives.

Gradually as they integrate into the loving and warm atmosphere in their new home with their new friends their attitudes and outlook change.  They are allowed to be children again without having to worry where their next meal will come from and set free from fears of being beaten and abused.  They are given a chance to dream and achieve great things for their future. The children are taught good values like respect, kindness, discipline, and the value of hard work.

We at Channels of Love believe we receive the reward of our labor when we see happiness in the eyes of the children and hear them laugh and enjoy themselves. When we see them openheartedly welcome new kids who come like they themselves once did with untold stories of suffering and pain in their eyes and make them feel loved and accepted, we know our work has been rewarded.
