My name is Roshan. I have 2 younger brothers. My mother died when I was little. My father abandoned us a short time later. I was living with my uncle's family where I was beaten daily and grew up in a violent and hostile atmosphere. There was barely any money to feed all of us and send us to school. As I grew up I started becoming rebellious and decided to stop going to school because I felt there was no use in getting an education and there was no money to pay fees. That was when someone told us about Channels of Love. I just wanted to get out of the terrible situation at home and so decided to go live in the childrens' home. At first, I just wanted my own way and refused to listen to anyone. I saw no purpose in studying and had no hope for a good future. But over the months as Leslie uncle and Shaji uncle showed me love that I had never received before and helped me realize my bad attitude, a change came into my life. I began to see hope that I too could have a better life and I realized by studying well I could also be a success. I had a tough time studying in the beginning because I had never put effort and hard work into it before. But now I desperately wanted to do well and with a lot of prayer and support from my new family at Channels of Love, I scored good marks in my 10th standard exams.
Today I am studying for my diploma in electrical engineering. My life was transformed after I came to live at Channels of Love home and I cannot imagine what would have become of me had I continued down the same hopeless and destructive path. Today my brothers also live in the same children's home. I want to reach out and bring the same transformation in other children's lives and pass on the blessing that I received. After I finish my studies my desire is to work among children like myself and bring them hope and help change their destiny.
